Yes, I know, I don't have a dog...I have 100's of dogs instead!! The animals that come into UPAWS are genuinely like the staff's family members - we save them, care for them, root for them, promote them, cry for them (happy and sad tears), and love them like family.

Dogs like Yahtzee.

This little guy was with UPAWS on and off for two years (90% on). He was rescued from death row from animal control in Missouri. He arrived at UPAWS a happy boy, but after he was adopted and returned, he came back very guarded and highly distrusting of everyone. He would bite without warning, and it was baffling to see such a drastic change in him. Our caring staff, especially Julie, never gave up on him. For some reason, Yahtzee liked me (I chose him to come to UPAWS from MO). I treated Yahtzee, aka Ya-Ya, like a cat, left him be, never tried to pet him, but loved him from afar. He learned to trust me, and he quickly became my favorite. He'd come into my office for treats and a snooze. Heck, I could even walk him as he knew I wasn't going to try to push him. Well, a very long story short, an AMAZING lady visited Ya-Ya over and over again. Julie helped them become friends. It took a long time, but Ya-Ya is now in his forever home! 

I am raising donations in Honor of Yahtzee and all the Ya-Ya's that come to UPAWS for help. All money raised will go right to helping these beautiful animals find their loving homes.

Photos: Last month, I was able to meet Yahtzee! His Mom brought him to see Julie and me at Blueberry Ridge trails, and we even went for a hike. What a HAPPY boy and a very Happy Ending!
